An important aspect when you are organising your trip and one of the most frequently asked questions about the Camino de Santiago has to do with how to reach the starting point of your route.

Galician Roots is a travel agency specialised in organised and customised tours of the Camino de Santiago. Whether you want to do the Camino de Santiago solo, in couple, with your family or friends we are here to help you plan your best trip of the Camino de Santiago. Unlike other agencies we are based on the French Way of the Camino de Santiago, this allows us to provide continuous support during your journey so that you only have to enjoy your route as a pilgrim.

Upon your arrival at the airport of Lavacolla in Santiago, we can pick you up and transfer you to your accommodation in Sarria where you will rest and start your Camino de Santiago on the next day. Also if you arrive by car to Santiago or Sarria we can manage the parking service so you can load your car and we can transfer you to your accommodation.

We can transfer you to any starting point of your Camino de Santiago, following are a few examples of the different transfers that we can offer to you.

Transfer from Lavacolla airport (Santiago airport) to Sarria, French Way
Transfer from Santiago de Compostela (city) to Sarria, French Way
Transfer to O Cebreiro, French Way

Furthermore, our private transfer service will allow you to visit the closest touristic locations to the town where you spend the night after completing your stage of the Camino de Santiago.
You can also get to Sarria in order to start your Camino de Santiago by other means of transport such as the train, bus or plane. Here is a bit more information about this means of transport.

Arriving at Sarria by train in order to walk the Camino de Santiago:
To arrive by train to Sarria the communications system is very good from the main Spanish cities such as Madrid and Barcelona, which have direct daily connections. From the northwest of Spain, you can reach Sarria by train from the cities of Lleida, Tarragona, Zaragoza, Pamplona, Burgos, Palencia and León. From the rest of Spain, the most recommended option is to take a train towards Madrid and then from Madrid to Sarria. Besides, there are daily trains from Lugo.

Arriving at Sarria by bus in order to walk the Camino de Santiago:
There are no direct buses to Sarria from the main Spanish cities, you first have to get to Lugo and then take another bus towards Sarria. From Barcelona and Madrid, the bus company Alsa offers daily bus services to Lugo and Santiago.

Arriving at Sarria by plane in order to walk the Camino de Santiago:
The fastest and easiest way to reach Galicia and Santiago de Compostela from Barcelona and Madrid is by plane. The airport of Santiago de Compostela, known as the airport of Lavacolla, is the closest to Sarria where start the last 100 kilometres of the Camino de Santiago. You also have the option to arrive at the airports of A Coruña and Vigo, however, these are more distant. Even though we can still transfer you from any of these airports.
