El Camino Inglés

Un recorrido con influencia escandinava y británica

The English Way of Santiago has its roots in the pilgrims who sailed towards the Galician coasts from the British Islands: England, Scotland, Ireland and also from the Scandinavian countries taking as a reference the harbour of Ferrol and A Coruña. Once ashore the English Camino in Galicia starts from A Coruña or from Ferrol.

Usually, pilgrims start from Ferrol since the distance that separates the city from Santiago is of 120 kilometres approximately allowing you to apply for the Compostela certificate, not being the case from A Coruña where the distance is below 100 kilometres. We recommend you to visit both cities as you probably won’t regret it, its monuments and its gastronomy will make you start the English Way energetically.

In Ferrol, you'll be able to visit the old quarter, the Magdalena neighbourhood, the Canido neighbourhood with its walk of las meninas and the Castle of San Felipe. In A Coruña also known as the crystal city, you’ll enjoy the medieval area of the city, the tower of Hercules, which is the oldest working lighthouse in the whole world with almost 60 meters in height, the Castle of San Antón or the urban beaches of Orzán and Riazor.

Besides being one of the Caminos de Santiago with the fewest visitors the English Camino will discover you the Galician Rías Altas passing through Puentedeume, the old part of the town of Betanzos with its historical and artistic site and small rural towns of the Galician inland such as Hospital de Bruma and Sigüeiro. So what are you waiting for to find out our suggested tour of the English Way?
